Programs
offered: School programs emphasize creativity and a positive experience with clay. Projects feature artistic and sculptural as well as functional work in clay which include handbuilding (pinch, coil, slab methods), surface decoration (carving, drawing, glazing) and kiln firing. Projects include clay masks, relief tiles, pitfired pottery, and many other assorted clay forms. Installations of student created clay tiles can focus on history, culture, community or storytelling. Students are exposed to clay as a sculptural medium, while offering them a knowledge of basic construction techniques and the creative expressions possible in clay. Residencies culminate in an exhibition of student work.
