New Hampshire Traditional Arts & Folklife Listing

Rahel Limor
Jewish-American-Israeli Folksinger

Description:
Rahel is a compassionate, insightful, sensitive, versatile award-winning performing guitarist, vocalist, recording artist, songwriter and therapeutic music practitioner. Her progressive guitar-driven grooves fuse jazz, blues, rock and world rhythms with strong expressive vocals to create a wealth of unique "free-verse" style award-winning songs. Inspired lyrics reach deeply into the Psalms and Mosaic wisdom for both poetry and enlightenment. Early influences from the American folk music revival of the ‘60's and the ‘70's Woodstock era combine with a wealth of world traditions, sounds and rhythms that have become integral to Rahel’s hypnotic sound. She presents a repertoire that is rich in Jewish traditional, liturgical, Israeli and original songs and compositions that sing of faith, the journey of life, Torah, and the mysteries of G-D. Rahel is a trained Therapeutic Music Practitioner; she plays music for comfort, relaxation, healing and transition. Serving musically at bedside at home or in medical, clinical and hospice environments, and at memorials and funerals, she provides individually-tailored and appropriate repertoire that is holistic in intention and supports patient care. Her input serves also to assist the patient's family, friends and health care team.

Preferred activities and age groups: Demonstrations, performances, and hands on workshops at schools, fairs and festivals, private functions, gatherings, churches and religious institutions, museums and other community locations such as libraries and historical societies.
